FWA and the Directorships & Corporate Governance Committee is pleased to partner with the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce Women's Business Committee, NYWA and the Women Presidents Organization to present a panel discussion and networking event entitled: How to Prepare for and Get On Advisory Boards, Corporate Boards and Non-Profit Boards.

As the 2007 FWA 100™ Study made clear, the number of women on corporate Boards is not growing as quickly as hoped. Although companies in the NY Metropolitan Area fare slightly better than those in other areas of the country, Catalyst expects that at the current rate, it will take 80 years for the number of women on corporate boards to reach parity with men. In keeping with FWA’s long-standing commitment to increasing the number of women on Boards generally, this panel discussion will focus on helping to understand how to increase the number of women executives in paid positions on for-profit board of directors. The panelists, Bonnie Gwin (Partner, Heidrick & Struggles), Alair Townsend (Columnist and former Publisher, Crain’s NY Business) and Jan Hopkins (President, Jan Hopkins Group) are leaders in the industry who will share with us their experience in board searches and getting themselves/others on boards, as well as strategies women can use to prepare for board service, led by moderator Susan Stautberg (CEO, PartnerCom Corporation).
