Message from the President-backup

2015-2016 FWA President Katrin Dambrot.

Dear fellow FWA Members, Sponsors and Supporters,

WELCOME BACK!!!!! As we head back from our summer break, I wanted to share a lot of exciting news with you and welcome you to our 2015-2016 season of FWA activities and events. I hope you will join us at the Fall Kickoff Event on September 16th at Le Cirque, where we will share further details of our exciting plans with you for our Holiday Benefit, International Trip to Singapore and Hong Kong and plans for our 60th Anniversary celebrations throughout 2016. Time is short and space is limited, so please REGISTER NOW.

Now, for the truly fabulous news….Washington Monthly, in its 2015 ranking of colleges and universities, has named Baruch College as #1 “Best Bang for the Buck” amongst 402 four-year colleges in the Northeast. Additionally, Lehman College, John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Queens College, all CUNY colleges, were also among the Top Five.

Governor Cuomo, in making the announcement, said “New York has a long and proud tradition of providing a high quality, affordable education through our public colleges and universities.” He continued, “This latest ranking further emphasizes the value of earning a degree right here in New York and I am proud of these CUNY campuses and this well-deserved recognition.”

The FWA congratulates Baruch and the other CUNY campuses on this well-deserved honor and recognizes the hard work and dedication on the part of the Administration, staff and students that has gone into this achievement. We are proud of the FWA’s long-standing commitment to partner with Baruch and New York City schools in providing mentoring and scholarship support to deserving students.

And I personally thank and recognize all the FWA members who volunteer their time and resources to helping students achieve, year after year. Your efforts have been enormous and your achievements remarkable.

And most of all, the FWA recognizes that so much of our success has been made possible through the generous funding that we receive for our programs at Baruch through grants from BMO’s Equity in Education Trading Day. This is our eleventh year as a participant in this incredible program, and the FWA has been able to provide over $2,000,000 of support to Baruch mentees and scholarship winners through BMO’s great generosity. Support that has transformed many lives.

Remember that September 17th is BMO’s Equity Through Education Trading Day and watch for additional information from us on how each and every FWA member can participate in recognizing and thanking BMO for their generosity.

With warm regards,

Katrin Dambrot
FWA President 2015-16
