The annual Financial Women’s Association High School Mentoring Program kickoff dinner was held on November 14th at the High School of Economics and Finance (HSEF). The purpose of this event was for mentors and mentees to catch up, or meet for the first time.
This year, FWA welcomed five new mentees: juniors Crystal Prasad and Akeela Williams, and sophomores Sheyla Franco, Ying Mai, and Peony Nobrega-Walcott. HSEF junior mentees Jalissa Robinson and Keanna Robinson spoke about the impact FWA had on their academic and professional development, in particular from their work with mentor Beth Dorfman.
HSEF junior mentee Hang Yang also gave prepared remarks about her personal, academic, and professional growth from working with mentor Leslie Hecht. MBHS senior mentees Juliessy Brioso, Cassie Persaud and Jasmin Gill also spoke about the impact the FWA had on them, and how they had changed because of the program. All in all, the kickoff event included a lot of food, mingling, and fun.
