Created more than ten years ago, the FWA works to enable adult women and high school students to better control and understand critical areas of personal financial decision making, namely:
- Banking basics
- Paying for college
- When to use credit and debit cards
- Saving and investing
- Understanding stocks, bonds and mutual funds
For adult women, the Financial Literacy Committee works in conjunction with two organizations in the New York City area that are devoted to enhancing important job skills through holding training programs, helping participants affect change in their lives and their own circle of influence.
For high school students and young adults, the Financial Backpack Committee helps those who have never been trained in how to manage their personal and business finances, and seek this critical foundation. Without that key financial understanding, it is unlikely these individuals will thrive when entering the increasingly competitive job market. As such, the Financial Backpack program was created with the notion of educating individuals about important financial management tasks through seminars covering agendas.
