FWA – New Jersey

“Many of our Members here in New Jersey straddle the Hudson. They are looking to establish a strong professional network here in NJ, where they either live or work, or both. FWA-New Jersey was recognized as a full committee during the Presidency of Betsy Werley (FWA President, 01-02). We had started some events under the auspices of the Membership Committee when Joan Green (FWA President, 02-03) chaired it, so we had some excellent early supporters.”

Previously referred to as the NJ Network, the FWA-New Jersey Committee is devoted to holding key networking and professional development programs, primarily throughout northern and central New Jersey. In order to continuously strengthen its agenda, the Committee links with other associations and women’s groups within accounting and legal firms, as well as major corporations and academic institutions such as Seton Hall University. In turn, Members are then attracted to the FWA through the quality and variety of its events, the power of networking with successful professional women and the opportunity to explore ways to give back, such as mentoring the next generation.

Ideal for individuals looking to enhance their professional network in New Jersey that work in NY yet may be looking to work in NJ for a more manageable commute and balance of work/life demands, past events sponsored by this committee include:

  • The highly successful annual Membership Dinner held in August
  • Denise Morrison, president and CEO of Campbell Soup in partnership with Seton Hall University’s Stillman School of Business
  • Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno with sponsorship and hosting by Wells Fargo
  • John Stangfeld, CEO and president of Prudential and other Prudential executives as the guests of the Women in Finance of Prudential
  • Partnering with the Women’s group of Rothstein Kass for a panel titled, “Successful Strategies of Women in the Workplace”
  • Exploring the role of “Women in Philanthropyhosted by JPMorgan Chase and Company
  • Fun networking events such as “Meet and Mingles” in addition to “Fashion Shopping and Networking at Saks”
  • Skills-based events such as Susan Archer, a coach and author who lead the panel/workshop  “Investing in Yourself” and Maria Semple who headed “Social Media Marketing Made Simple”
