Hard work, determination and giving back really do yield great benefits!
Although women make up a majority of the U.S. population, in the financial services industry, only 12.4 percent are executive officers and 18.3 percent are board directors, according to a 2014 report from the Center for American Progress.
That is just one reason it’s so important to highlight powerful women advancing their career while simultaneously closing this leadership gap. And it seems that longtime FWA member Mee Warren is doing exactly that.
Mee Warren, CFA, CAIA, and trader at Two Sigma Investments, LLC, a hedge fund with about $24 billion in assets under management and more than 650 employees, was recently presented with the Women in Finance Outstanding Contribution award.
“I am truly honored to receive the “Women in Finance Outstanding Contribution” award from Markets Media. Many of my recent accomplishments were inspired by my work with FWA, and so, in many ways this award is as much yours as is mine,” said Mee Warren, trader at Two Sigma Investments, LLC.
Mee is affiliated with the National Organization of Investment Professionals, the New York Society of Security Analysts, Women in Bonds Club, Women in ETFs, and 100 Women in Hedge Funds. She is also a trustee on the board of directors for Narcolepsy Network Inc., a national non-profit organization.
If you thought that was enough to keep Mee busy, you’d be wrong. She’s also an active mentor in the FWA’s mentoring program at Murry Bergtraum High School in lower Manhattan. Highlighted for being one of the longest-running programs in the NYC public school system, many of the mentees in this program not only successfully finish high school but then continue onto college.
