On April 20, Executive Director Ria Davis, Entrepreneurship Committee Chair, Alana McNichol, and Interim Education Coordinator, Claire Wyckoff, introduced an audience of women small business owners to the FWA at a NY Women in Business breakfast event. The NY Women in Business Breakfast series brings together a coalition of organizations that support women in business. In addition to the FWA, membership includes SCORE, NAWBO, What now, What next, Townsquared, and Women in Communications.

The recent event, hosted by Wells Fargo, featured four outstanding women entrepreneurs speaking about how they developed powerful selling messages for their businesses. A few key points the discussion highlighted were,

  • the importance of identifying the unique features and benefits of the business;
  • the value of collaborating with noncompetitive businesses that share your audience;
  • the need for entrepreneurs to be resilient.

In the Q&A that concluded the event, the audience of nearly 150 women showed a high level of involvement with questions that ran the gamut—from how to get retail customers to sources of funding for new smartphone apps. Quite a few women stopped by the FWA table and expressed interest in attending our programs.
