Description: 
 

Join the FWA for a high-level discussion on the economy and financial markets with an all-star panel of strategists and economists, moderated by CNBC’s Steve Liesman. Will the economy be able to pull off a soft landing or tip into recession? Will the artificial intelligence trade continue to drive the stock market? The panel convenes as the Federal Reserve is set to begin cutting interest rates and as the presidential election looms over markets. 

 

Doors open for registration and networking at 5 pm. 

Panel begins at 5:30 pm sharp.

Helima CroftSteve Liesman, CNBC Senior Economics Reporter (moderator)

 

As CNBC’s senior economics reporter, Steve Liesman reports on all aspects of the economy, including the Federal Reserve and major economic indicators. He appears on “Squawk Box” (M-F, 6AM-9AM ET), as well as other CNBC programs throughout the business day.

 

Liesman joined CNBC from The Wall Street Journal where he served as a senior economics reporter covering monetary policy, international economics, academic research and productivity. At the Journal, Liesman previously worked as an energy reporter, and Moscow bureau chief. He won an Emmy for his coverage of the financial crisis and was a member of the reporting team recognized with a Pulitzer Prize for stories chronicling the crash of the Russian financial markets Prior to joining the Journal in 1994, Liesman was the business editor for The Moscow Times, where, as the founding business editor for the country’s first English-language daily newspaper, he helped create the publication’s stock index, which was the country’s first.

 

 

Lori CalvasinaLori Calvasina, Managing Director and Head of U.S.Equity Strategy at RBC Capital Markets

 

Lori joined RBC Capital Markets as Head of U.S. Equity Strategy in 2017 as a Managing Director. Having spent nearly two decades as an equity strategist at major investment banks, Lori is an expert on the US stock market, and regularly represents RBC in the financial media on Bloomberg and CNBC. Prior to joining RBC, Lori was a senior equity strategist at Credit Suisse from 2010 to 2017, covering Small/Mid Cap Strategy from 2010-2014 and both Small/Mid Cap and US Equity Strategy from 2015-2017. She spent the first ten years of her career at Citi in a variety of roles including lead Small/Mid Cap Strategist from 2007-2010. 

 

 

 

George GoncalvesGeorge Goncalves, Head of U.S. Macro Strategy, MUFG Securities Americas Inc.

 

An industry veteran with more than 20 years on the sell-side and buy-side, George joined MUFG in April 2021 as head of U.S. Macro Strategy with a mandate to formulate U.S. Fixed Income views, drive market strategy thought leadership, and actionable trade ideas for clients. He focuses on rates, MBS, credit, the Fed/global central bank policy, U.S. dollar funding dynamics and all things macro-related. George spent nearly a decade at Nomura Securities, first as the chief U.S. Rates Strategist and later as the Head of U.S. Fixed Income Strategy. Prior to that, George was the Head of Fixed Income Strategy at Cantor Fitzgerald and a senior research analyst at both Morgan Stanley and Bank of America.

 

 

Lauren GoodwinLauren Goodwin, Chief Market Strategist at New York Life Investments

 

Lauren Goodwin is an economist and the Chief Market Strategist at New York Life Investments. She leads the firm’s Global Market Strategy team, and is responsible for economic and market research, asset allocation, and thought leadership to empower investment decision-making. Lauren’s research focuses on the investment implications of an evolving macroeconomic and capital markets environment. She has written extensively on global economic developments, policy, portfolio construction, megatrends, and geopolitics. She regularly represents the firm as a keynote speaker at conferences and in television and print media outlets such as: Bloomberg, CNBC, the New York Times, Nikkei, and the Wall Street Journal. She is a host of the firm’s economic and market podcast, Market Matters.

 

 

Dana PetersonDana Peterson, Chief Economist, The Conference Board

 

Dana M Peterson is the Chief Economist and Leader of the Economy, Strategy & Finance Center at The Conference Board. Prior to this, she served as a North America Economist and later as a Global Economist at Citi, the world’s largest investment bank. Her wealth of experience extends to the public sector, having also worked at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C. Peterson's research has been featured by U.S. and international news outlets, both in print and broadcast, including CNBC, FOX Business, Bloomberg, BBC, Harvard Business Review, Barron’s, the Financial Times, and the Wall Street Journal. Dana is a member of the Board of Directors of NBER, NABE, and Global Interdependence Center, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
