The Financial Women’s Association’s Impact Investing Committee invites you to a members-only panel on sustainable investing trends, co-hosted with BlackRock's employee networks, the Women’s Initiative & Allies Network (WIN) and Green Team Network (GTN), along with SMBC Group. The event will take place on November 12th from 5:30-8 PM at 50 Hudson Yards.

 

Amidst evolving trends and preferences, many investors are looking for a range of sustainable products, research, and analytics to meet their needs. The event will feature a moderated discussion on investment approaches, ways to measure and report impact, and investment opportunities and challenges that are top-of-mind globally.

Bios: 
 

Michelle FriedmanMichelle Friedman, Director, Senior Values Aligned Strategist, BlackRock

 

Michelle is a Senior Values-Alignment Strategist with Aperio Group, part of BlackRock. Her primary responsibility is working with clients to help them express their values in hyper-customized public equity portfolios. In doing so, she works with clients to understand the issues they care about most to develop approaches for aligning their portfolios with their values on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. Michelle also develops new values-alignment options for Aperio clients on a range of topics, including the Aperio Climate Transition Aware Strategy and Political Spending Transparency Tilt. 

 

Michelle has been in the ESG industry for more than 23 years. Prior to joining Aperio/BlackRock, Michelle worked at MSCI Inc. where she was the global head of MSCI ESG Research's commercial and product development strategy for their Impact, Sustainable Finance, Screening, and Custom ESG Research solutions. During her time at MSCI, she had various roles including the development of ESG portfolio reporting tools, custom research projects and indexes, faith-based screening research, SDG alignment tools, and EU SFDR and Taxonomy data and reporting solutions. Michelle started her career at SRI research pioneer KLD Research & Analytics, where she was the Managing Director of Consulting Services for institutional investors including pension funds, foundations and religious institutions. 

 

Michelle has a BA in International Relations, with a focus on environmental economics and a minor in Italian, from Tufts University.

 

 

Emily WengEmily Weng, Vice President, Fundamental Fixed Income ESG Investment Team, BlackRock 

 

Emily Weng, Vice President, is a member of the Global Fixed Income ESG Investment team. Emily is a portfolio manager on the platform's ESG funds, with a focus on impact funds. Emily works with the investments platform to integrate ESG and climate risk integration tools and strategies to the investment process. She conducts and provides analysis on green, social, sustainability bond issuances. She earned a B.S. degree from Barnard College, Columbia University in 2016 with a double major in Economics & Mathematics, and French Studies. She earned her Master's of Science Degree in Sustainability Management from Columbia University in 2024.

 

 

Dolph HabeckDolph Habeck, Managing Director and Head of Sustainable Solutions, Americas Division, SMBC Group 

 

Dolph Habeck is a Managing Director with SMBC and is the Head of Sustainable Solutions for the Americas Division. His team is responsible for working with the Bank’s clients on their sustainability-driven needs and objectives. Dolph joined SMBC in May 2021, as Head of ESG Debt Syndicate and Capital Markets in the Americas.

 

Previously, Dolph was with Morgan Stanley, as Head of Sustainability Syndicate and Origination in the Americas. There, the team led numerous innovative transactions in the ESG vertical including the First Green Corporate Bond, the First Green Sustainability Corporate Bond, the First Green Bond from Brazil and the First Sustainability Linked Bond.

 

After starting his career in New York, Dolph spent the next 14 years of his career working in London, with Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. At Morgan Stanley he led Investment Grade and Emerging Markets Debt Syndicate in Europe before becoming involved with the firm’s growing Sustainability practice. He returned to the US in 2016 to establish Morgan Stanley’s ESG business in the Americas amongst other responsibilities.

 

Dolph graduated from Lehigh University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations.

 

 

 

Maria IchizawaMaria Ichizawa, Vice President, Global Sustainable Finance, Morgan Stanley

 

Maria Ichizawa is a Vice President in Morgan Stanley’s Global Sustainability Office. She supports development of sustainable finance products and solutions across the firm’s Institutional Securities, Investment Management and Wealth Management divisions, with a particular focus on climate and carbon. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Maria rated Japanese companies on their sustainability for MSCI ESG Research and served as a corporate sustainability consultant with KPMG, where she advised Japanese corporates on sustainability strategy and disclosure. She has also supported the integration of thematic ESG topics into investment processes at Ninety One, UK-based asset management firm. She received her BA from Vassar College and her MBA from University of Cambridge Judge Business School.

 

 

Maya BeyhanMaya Beyhan, Senior Director, ESG Specialist, Index Investment Strategy, S&P Dow Jones Indices

 

Maya Beyhan is Senior Director, Global Head of Sustainability, Index Investment Strategy at S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI). The index investment strategy team provides research and commentary on the entire S&P DJI product set, including U.S. and global equities, commodities, fixed income and economic indices. Maya’s role has a specific focus on sustainability-based indices within this product set globally.

 

Before joining S&P DJI, Maya was the lead equity index portfolio strategist at State Street Global Advisors in EMEA. In this role, she served clients with sophisticated sustainability portfolios. She previously worked as an investment strategist at Kempen Capital Management, covering institutional clients in the U.K. and the Netherlands.

 

Maya holds a PhD in Quantum Chemistry from Vrije University in Amsterdam and a master’s degree in Theoretical Physics from Groningen University in the Netherlands.
