FWA was established in 1956 when eight enterprising women on Wall Street met to share professional experiences and further their knowledge. Today, our non-profit organization proudly supports over 800 members worldwide and promotes the professional development and advancement of all women through education, mentorship, scholarships, networking, and alliances across the financial community.

With a rich history since 1956, over 800 members and numerous corporate, government and academic allies, FWA is ideally positioned to address the challenges facing women today and help realize a world in which they have equitable representation and recognition across all levels of the financial community.
FWA is committed to highlighting the achievements of distinguished women, bringing members and leaders together for interactive exchanges throughout the year. Each year, the FWA Awards Ceremony recognizes outstanding leaders in finance, including the FWA Public and Private Sector Woman of the Year and Male Ally of the Year.
FWA’s Pacesetter Program is a continuing partnership President’s Circle sponsorship companies that recognizes outstanding women in finance who exemplify the character, achievement, passion, and leadership that is critical to the organizational success and to the support and development of the next generation of women leaders within those firms.
Special events and ongoing programming offer professional development and networking opportunities for women in financial services and related fields. Activities address topics from mentoring and scholarships to corporate board advocacy and referrals. Members have a unique opportunity to build professional development skills by joining committees and planning events.
