Description:

Join our panel of sustainability and ESG experts as they unravel the intricacies of sustainable supply chains and their pivotal role for companies, lenders, and investors. Discover how regulations are influencing lending and investment decisions which in turn have a direct impact on the bottom line.  They will share examples of how strong sustainable supply chain management creates value to shareholders and affects an entity’s financial performance.

In the wake of global disruptions, supply chain resilience has taken center stage. The ability to navigate operational challenges is crucial for executing business strategies and delivering value for investors. This resilience is inherently linked to sustainability, where ESG standards guide both a company's operations and its suppliers' practices. Multinational corporations are pledging to procure the materials and services they need from companies committed to fair labor practices and environmental protections. In practice this is hard to do especially for suppliers at the low level of the chain who often do not adhere to the required sustainability standards, exposing corporations to serious financial, social and regulatory risks.

The panelists will explain the concept of sustainable supply chains, provide an overview of the recent regulations and identify key risks from a financial perspective and link it to performance and potential returns. Given the breath of this topic, the panelists will focus on deforestation as a case for due diligence. They will highlight the financial risks associated with insufficient deforestation policies.According to Global Canopy’s Forest 500 report, almost two-thirds of the 150 major financial players most exposed to deforestation do not have a single policy in place to address this risk. Currently, a staggering $2.6 trillion investments are in high deforestation risk commodities without appropriate safe guards. Our experts will illustrate the impact of deforestation regulations on corporations and financial institutions, providing valuable insights for stakeholders.

The discussion will focus on:

  • The critical role of sustainable supply chains in lending and investment decisions.
  • Innovative supply chain financing mechanisms that help lower capital costs.
  • Impactful examples showcasing the consequences of deforestation regulations.
  • Accessible sources of data to incorporate supply chain sustainability into the  decision-making processes.

Don't miss this opportunity to gain actionable insights into sustainable supply chain management and deepen your understanding of the intersection between sustainable supply chains and financial performance. Learn how organizations can enhance their reputations, lower capital costs, and mitigate risks through supply chain due diligence and regulatory compliance.
