The Directorship and Corporate Governance Committee (DCGC) invites all active FWA members to join its meeting on March 19, 2024 to hear from their invited speaker, Carol A.N. Zacharias, on a topic that remains ever-relevant to our membership.

Topic: “Women in the Workforce”

Today more than ever, women lead in educational achievement, drive positive financial results in businesses, start their own successful companies, and are members and leaders of boards. Carol examines the above progress against the pipeline of women in the workforce and the gender pay gap today.  

The presentation is expected to be 30 minutes with additional 10-15 minutes for Q/A depending on your participation.

Speaker Bio

Carol A.N. Zacharias 

Carol is a product expert in the insurance industry, successfully establishing and leading strong insurance product organizations at Chubb, AIG and QBE, with a specialty in directors’ and officers’ liability and insurance. Carol served as Chief Product Officer of AIG; Senior Vice President, Underwriting Counsel for QBE North America; and Deputy General Counsel to ACE North America, now part of the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies. She also served as a member of the board of ACORD, the global insurance industry's data standards and technology organization.

Carol attended New York University School of Law, where she received a master's degree in corporate law. She has served as Chair of the American Bar Association Business Law Section's Business Insurance Committee and Vice Chair of the Professional, Officers' and Directors' Liability Law Committee of the Tort and Insurance Practice Section. Ms. Zacharias also served as co-chair of the insurance sub-committee of the American Bar Association Litigation Section's Committee on Corporate Counsel. She is a member of the United States Supreme Court bar, the Federal and New Jersey bars, the American Bar Association, and the American Corporate Counsel Association.

Ms. Zacharias has been published in a securities law textbook and a variety of periodicals including the Journal of Commerce, National Underwriter, Global Reinsurance, Bank Director, Professional Agent, Journal of Accountancy, John Liner Review, Professional Agent, Insights, BNA's Tax Management & Compensation Planning Journal and Liability Corporate Analyst. She has also been quoted in various publications, such as Business Insurance and The Wall Street Journal. She is a frequent speaker and taught professional liability at New York's College of Insurance, now part of St. John's University. Ms. Zacharias was previously honored by Business Insurance Magazine, as she was chosen as one of the publication's "Women to Watch."
