Financial planning doesn't have to be stressful. It's easy for busy professionals to put off important decisions in managing financial goals. The FWA's Emerging Leaders Committee has set up a perfect event for you, regardless of whether you are in your 20s or 50s or even retiring. It's never too late to explore how to think about building wealth and a financially secure future. A panel of highly regarded financial planners will provide in-depth guidance and tips for what you can do at each stage of your life, whether you are starting a family, changing careers, thinking about leaving your job, or retiring. Dr. Karen Altfest, CFP, PhD, Principal Advisor at Altfest Personal Wealth Management
Karen Caplan Altfest, Ph.D., CFP®, is a Principal Advisor and Executive Vice President at Altfest Personal Wealth Management. She helps many of the firm’s clients on a variety of investment and financial planning issues and specializes in helping women clients and widows. Karen’s Financially Savvy Woman® programs, including the Women’s Financial $pa®, are popular with clients. Her focus is to educate and empower women.
Karen is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal, holds BA and MA degrees from Hunter College, and holds the CFP® designation. Karen received her Ph.D. in history from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY).

Highly regarded for her product and markets knowledge and demonstrated ability to build long-term relationships with clients, Simone Vinocour is a Financial Advisor, Financial Planning Specialist and Insurance Planning Director at Morgan Stanley, having joined Firm in 2018 and the Anne Izzillo Group at Morgan Stanley in 2022.
With over 20 years of progressive experience in helping multinational Fortune 500 corporate clients in the consumer products and retail, as well as pharmaceutical and medical device industries achieve their financial goals, she is using these same skills to provide wealth management services and solutions to individuals and families, non-profits, corporate executives and business owners to help them achieve their own financial goals. Known for her distinctive ability to develop strategic long-term relationships, she excels in aligning clients’ needs with the firm’s product offer and research insight to bring solutions.
Simone is passionate about virtually all aspects of wealth management and has a proactive approach in assisting clients in the management of their financial lives so they may have greater capacity to pursue their own professional and personal pursuits. Simone understands the challenges that many of her clients face throughout their lives and the importance of having an advisor to navigate “milestone” financial events such as planning for college, managing executive compensation and retirement planning. Life can often throw a curveball, but a comprehensive financial plan can help to mitigate these financial challenges.
As a recognized leader in diversity and inclusion initiatives, she also is ardent about empowering women in the financial services community and beyond to have the necessary skills for financial and professional success. Simone has been involved actively in the Financial Women’s Association (FWA) of New York since 2002 and is currently the Co-Chair of its Strategic Advisory Council of corporate sponsors, having served FWA President and Board Chair from 2019 – July 2021. She is active in internal diversity and inclusion initiatives within Morgan Stanley, and serves as a mentor to rising talent in the industry.
Simone’s extensive global experience gives her insight into how global markets impact investors. Simone obtained her MBA in Finance and International Management at New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business, and her B.S. in Business Administration at Georgetown University where she studied marketing and German. She additionally studied at Erasmus University, Rotterdam School of Management, completing the International Management Program. She continued to live and work in banking in the Netherlands for six years. Simone holds Series 7, 63, 66 and 79 certifications and is a licensed insurance broker for life, variable, and accident & health insurance, as well as long term care. With varying language proficiencies in Dutch, German and French, she is adept in building relationships worldwide across all cultures.
Simone presently resides in New York City, where in her free time she enjoys travel, jazz, and ballet with her husband and two children. Simone also is on the Ministry Council of St. Ignatius Loyola parish in Manhattan and serves as the parish’s Chair of its Interfaith Ministry. On Sunday mornings, you can find her there singing in the Wallace Hall Choir.
Jenn Feliberty, MSF, Associate Wealth Management Advisor with Intention Wealth Management at Northwestern Mutual
Jenn grew up in the family business. When most teens were invited to Quinceafiera parties, she was the one organizing the contracts in Spanish & English. She realized that she could serve the business more as a financial specialist than going anywhere near the glue gun. She graduated with a BA in Psychology from Buffalo and a Masters in finance from University of Rochester.
After seventeen years as a Senior Fixed Income Trader, Jenn decided to join the team in 2020. Becoming an advisor comes with a personal story of how a reversible medical situation kept her out of work for over 90 days. "I wish someone had the conversation with me, that protecting your income and financial well-being is just as important as growing your wealth. I've made it a mission to educate people that your story can be better than mine." Jenn gives her time and resources to University of Rochester Latin Alumni Network & NYC Metro Women, EPIC LI & Girl Scouts of Greater NY.
Stephanie Lynn Ackler, CFA, President and Co-Founder at AKD Wealth Partners
Stephanie Ackler is the President and Co-Founder of AKD Wealth Partners of Wells Fargo Financial Network established March of 2023. Previously, head of Ackler Wealth Management of Wells Fargo Advisors, which she established shortly after joining a predecessor firm in 2001. With over 40 years in the financial industry, Stephanie brings not only the experience of a Chartered Financial Analyst®, but also the insight that comes from staying tapped into market changes and industry trends. Prior to joining Wells Fargo Advisors, Stephanie worked for Tucker Anthony, LLC for 17 years. She has been recognized by Wells Fargo Advisors as a Premier Advisor every year since 2002 and in 2019 earned the title Private Wealth Financial Advisor.
Stephanie helps her clients manage their futures, allowing them to live the lives they have always dreamed of living. Since 1998, Stephanie has been an active participant in both the Financial Women’s Association of New York and Women Presidents’ Organization, a group of women who run their own businesses and work to develop leadership and entrepreneurial skills. She was a member of WPO’s Investment Committee.
In 2013 Stephanie was accepted to the Harvard Kennedy School Women’s Leadership Board where she serves as a key supporter and ambassador to the Women and Public Policy Program, a research center at Harvard Kennedy School and global leader in gender research, teaching, training, and outreach.
Stephanie is on the Alumni Leadership Council of Franklin and Marshall College (B.A., Chemistry, 1984) and the Investment Committee for her high school alma mater, the Northfield Mount Hermon School. She holds her Series 7 and 63 securities registrations, and applicable insurance licenses.
